Laborious Artistry
My Doting Wife,
Our isolation nears double digits, and yet there is still at least twice as far ahead as has passed. It is at least a blessing that despite great distances we can maintain social connections through the marvels of modern technology. As if by magic the device conjures the images of distant friends and allows us to converse as if they occupy the same room. This wonderous device allows us to engage in bemusement and simulate true social interactions lacking as a result of our confinement.
Today's activities cast me as a jack of all trades as our progeny requested that we, at last, commence with the refinishing of her new bed-chamber. Due to the poor stewardship of the previous landlords of the manor, some pieces required an expending of great efforts to prepare them for proper finishing. Indeed, I found myself in a state hardly deemed appropriate for a gentleman of my stature, but this infernal confinement requires such tasks to be done instead of finding the appropriate workmen for such mundane tasks. Our dearest child early requested we apply a new pigment to the walls to make the appearance mimic her current chamber. Likewise, she insisted that she assist in the application, despite the fact that she is untrained and lacking in artistry skills. While she quickly exhibited an understanding of the concept, here executions were hamstrung by her lackadaisical attention span. She imprudently leaned against an unfinished wall causing the pigment to soil her clothing and coat her hair leaving an encrusted mess to be attended to. I fear her work ethic lacking, though only not yet half a dozen years, she requires further discipline.
Alas, such work has made me weary and I seek the quiet embrace of sleep. May our tenth day of solitude in the makeshift lazaretto of our home pass with all haste. Until then, I shall pray for your safe return from the adjacent parlor.
Godspeed fair wife, until we again are together I remain your faithful husband.
